Hello beloved of Christ
Welcome to the Davidic Podcast
Today’s message as authored by David Abankwah, under the auspices of God’s inspiration, and narrated by Cassidy, is entitled as PLEDGES
And the key text is taken from the Book of Ecclesiastes, chapter 5, and its verse numbers 4 and 5, The New King James Version Of The Bible
And I Quote
When you make a vow to God, do not delay to pay it; for He has no pleasure in fools. Pay what you have vowed – Better not to vow than to vow and not pay.
Now the exposition
A pledge is a solemn, formal promise, and a binding commitment to do, or give or refrain from something. A pledge sworn is normally known as an oath. Pledge made before marital relationships is normally known as a proposal. Pledge made to carry out a certain work ethic, is known as a code of conduct or behaviour. A pledge made during a marriage ceremony, between a to-be wife and husband, is known as a marriage vow. A pledge made informally is normally known as a promise. As we make pledges, we think we are making them to people but, we are indirectly making them towards invisible forces, whether God or Satan. Our physical actions, impact our spiritual world.
These forces are the ones that hold us accountable for the pledges we make. There is always a binding commitment, these spiritual forces are looking up to you to fulfil. It is not only the people we have made those pledges to, who expect us to fulfil them, but, spiritual beings around during such a pledge making. When you make a pledge to God, you need to fulfil your part of the pledge at the church, you made the pledge after God has already done His part of the pledge. One pledge we need to be careful of is the pledge we make to God. There are two types of pledges of God: The pledge with a witness and the pledge of no witness. These two pledges are binding and must be fulfilled.
The pledge with a witness happens, when you make the pledge in church before the congregation, or to someone who is aware of such a pledge, and the pledge of no witness happens, when you make the pledge to yourself, which no mortal is aware of it, to fulfill it before a deity, whether God or whatever. The pledge of no witness happened in the life of Hannah, when she made a pledge to God to give her a son, as seen in First Samuel 1:11. It is very dangerous to overlook a pledge you have made before God, which is within your reach to honour. This is the reason many believers are suffering in their Christian, ministerial, health, marital, financial lives etc, and they attribute such evil to Satan.
Please think your life through, if you have fulfilled your part of any divine pledge. God will demand your binding commitment in many ways. He can let a fraudster squander your account. He can strike your business with bankruptcy. He can strike your children with sickness, which will require all your money to heal them. Indeed God is love, but don’t be complacent of His mercy, otherwise when His justice part strikes, you will find yourself wanting. If you have not fulfilled your part of any divine pledge, please fulfil it now. Please add additional money as damage, if it is a monetary pledge or increase the value of such a kind during the pledge fulfillment. Lastly, don’t make hasty pledges.
Prayer Diary
1. Lift up prayers to have a strong allegiance towards the promises you make towards God and men.
2. Lift up prayers for deliverance from any covenant you have with evil spirits, as you made pledges to them to fulfil something some time ago.
3. Lift up prayers for remembrance of any promise you have failed to honour towards God and men so you can honour.
4. Declare that: ‘I have the willpower to stay calm without making hasty pledges I can not honour. I will never be stubborn or rebellious towards the act of honouring pledges, or oaths in the name of Jesus Christ.’
Quote
Whenever you delay in honouring your pledges, there are crises that operate in your life
