FORTRESS

Hello beloved of Christ

Welcome to the Davidic Blog

Today’s message as authored by David Abankwah, under the auspices of divine inspiration, is entitled as, FORTRESS

And the main text is taken from Proverbs chapter 18, and its verse number 10, The New King James Version Of The Bible

And I Quote

The NAME OF THE LORD is a STRONG TOWER; the righteous run to it and are safe.

Now the exposition

Identity is very important in Godliness, ministry, and life. For identification and differentiation, names make a person distinct, or stand a person out form the lot. Nicknames like ‘Sperm,’ ‘Tebeele,’ ‘School fees,’ ‘Stubborn Gee,’ ‘Highlander,’ and other funny names, were identities senior high students had on campus. The people who had these appellations, felt proud to respond amid students and staff alike. To them, they didn’t have any shame to shrug such names off. It was disappointing to know that, many parents were not even aware of these ‘strange names’ their wards were having, and they were perplexed to realise such names, when they visited them in school.

When the parents who were unaware of their wards’ nicknames, ask about them using their real names, the students even couldn’t figure out who these students were. Sometimes, they stayed there longer than usual finding their wards. Conversely, the parents who knew their children’s nicknames, didn’t have any worries finding their wards. Imagine if they were also unaware of the strange names their children had, they wouldn’t have been able to meet their own children they gave birth to. If you have any name, do well to check its meaning. Don’t go around calling yourself any name you don’t understand. Note that, names have consequences. Names are important to God.

That is why He doesn’t call us by hissing at us. Throughout the Bible, God called people by their real names, and not their nicknames, and when their real names were not appropriate, He had to change them. Typical among these were Abram who later became Abraham; Jacob who later became Israel, many, but to mention a few. God the Father has a name and it is called Yahweh. He has made it known to us that, His name is holy, as seen in Matthew 6:9, and we can’t take His name in vain, as seen in Exodus 20:7. The Holy Spirit is the name of the third Person of God. There is only one being of God, and only three people have that nature. Your worth depends on the meaning of your name.

Before God the Son too, could have a name above all other names, He had to stay away from all evil, that could have tarnished His image. Through that, His name has become a fortress for us, as seen in Proverbs 18:10. Even though the name is a fortress, no one can call out the name Jesus Christ and have results. There is a condition there. Because His name is not ordinary, you have to be ‘righteous’ to experience the name’s power. Righteous in this sense, is to have faith in the name, and to stay away from all sins. You can’t live in sin and expect God to respond to your pleas. Note that, His name is sacred, and all those who want to keep the name as a fortress for themselves, must be holy too.

Prayer Diary
1. Lift up prayers to do every good thing purposeful, to protect the integrity you have in the Lord.

2. Lift up prayers to discover your mission on earth, through the identity you have discovered in the Lord.

3. Lift up prayers to uphold the good name of the Lord as a fortress.

4. Lift up prayers to maintain the worth and respect of the name Christian that you bear in every place you find yourself.

5. Declare that: ‘I am living according to the identity of who a Christian is. The name of the Lord is a fortress for me every now and then.’

Quote
“The only name that cannot lose its power is the name, Jesus Christ. How beautiful this name sounds, and how powerful this name exercises.
