AWAKE

Hello beloved of our Lord Jesus Christ

You are welcome to the Davidic Blog

Today’s Message as authored by David Abankwah, under the auspices of divine inspiration, is entitled as, AWAKE

And the main text is taken from the Gospel According To Matthew, Chapter 25, and its verse number 5 to 7, The New King James Version Of The Bible

And it reads as

But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept. “And at midnight a cry was heard: ‘Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet him!’ Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps.

Now, the exposition

On one Saturday morning, one of my Aunties told me that, we would be setting off to pay some family members a visit in Accra, the capital town of Ghana. By that time, I was staying with her in Kasoa, a town in the central region of Ghana. Being ready, we then cruised as our car tyres made friction, between the asphalt of the road, until we reached the abodes of our family members. After all the rounds of our cruising, we then headed home late in the evening. As we were coming, I was so tired that, I began dozing off eventually. The unfortunate thing was that, I was at the front seat of the car. Little did I know that, my slumber was affecting my Auntie who was driving the car. She felt drowsy too while driving the car.

She suddenly lost focus and control of the wheel, and then headed towards the incoming traffic. God was so good that, she was awakened from her sleep, and she skipped past the incoming vehicle from close range. We were so lucky to escape a terrible accident. I don’t know if I would have been alive to tell this story today, if God who never sleeps nor slumbers, was not there to save us. She then woke me up, and lambasted me for affecting her with my sleep. I then knew what a little slumber that the book of Proverbs 6:10 taught us about that, it could lead to poverty, could have definitely ended my life on the Accra to Kasoa highways. She was so scared to sit behind the wheel and drive again.

We had to wait for a while before she could gather momentum again to start the engine. We need to be awake in holiness, so we will not be swept away by sin that leads to everlasting agony. During examination weeks in school, the whole campus was choked up by students. Those who stayed afar, found places near campus to avoid lateness, when they had examination papers to write. In my case, I stayed afar, and I had to come to campus the night, before writing an examination paper in the morning. I had to stay all the night, so I could do revision for the next morning’s paper. Slumber was something I tried as much as possible to avoid, so I could refresh my memory enough to face the exams.

But there is a certain slumber, that is neither the slumber in a car, nor the slumber you want to avoid before examinations, but, the slumber of sin. Satan comes to steal through the system of slumber. Thieves usually operate when people are unarmed, or when they are sleeping, or when no one is aware of their visit. Jesus Christ also told us He would come unaware, like a thief in the night. Look through your life. You will discover that there are petty things, that sink you deep in sin, gradually pulling you from the grace of God. You used to do the things of God, but, now you have stopped doing them. It is high time you woke up from your slumber. It is now time to be active for your night of sleep, is long gone.

Prayer Diary
1. Lift up prayers for the relentless attitude, to wait on the Lord’s second coming.

2. Lift up prayers for the patience, to endure all situations, when you are tempted by Satan, and when your faith is also tested by God.

3. Lift up prayers to realise you are backsliding, and the willpower to rectify it as soon as possible.

4. Lift up prayers to stay awake always for the work of your ministry.

5. Lift up prayers for the strength of God, to pull you out of any deep sinking schemes of the devil, that easily beset you.

6. Declare that: ‘I am awakened from every slumber of sin. Any evil factor will never quench the fire of the Lord in me, on me, with me, and upon me in the name of Jesus Christ.’

Quote
“Salvation is the greatest inheritance given to us by the Lord. As a Christian, you are the guard of your own salvation.
