READ: 1 Corinthians 15

²⁸Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice ²⁹and come forth – those who have done good, to the RESURRECTION OF LIFE, and those who have done evil, to the RESURRECTION OF CONDEMNATION.
-John 5:28-29 | NKJV

Everything has a price you have to pay for it. Eternal life is so expensive that it can only be given to those who pay the price of faith and works. Even though salvation is a free gift given to those who believe in Jesus Christ – the Son of God, you still have to pay the price. Why is it that many people don’t believe in Him? It is because they can’t pay the price of letting down their ego, riches, wealth, religion, or pride to accept someone they haven’t seen before. If life was only physical and there was no afterlife, then anyone could have lived his or her life anyhow or would have believed in things we want, but it doesn’t work that way. This life is transient, and this world is a transit into eternity.

Even if Adam and Eve did not sin to receive the penalty of death, there would have been a time that life on earth would cease. If not, then why did God create Death and Hades in the first place (Revelation 6:8)? God created everything to serve His purpose, and it was God’s intention to bring ruin to the world one day (2 Peter 3:7). Why? This is because, He created this universe as a temporal place, where He would sieve the elect from the sons of perdition. As a farmer harvests the good crops from the bad ones, this world is like a threshing floor for God to gather His wheat (the elect) into His barn (New Jerusalem) and burn the chaff (sinners) with unquenchable fire (lake of fire).

God has not charged us anything concerning the things the earth entails, but what He requires from us are: righteousness, holiness, and sanctification. He has drawn a borderline of life we cannot cross (Psalm 39:5). God knows each and everyone’s lifetime and the years we have to spend (Psalm 39:4). As a landlord has a time frame for every tenant, so we are also the tenants on the land of our God. Our lives on earth is like rent. We will leave this apartment called earth through death, when our rent (lifetime given by God), is over. Every wise tenant saves for the future so he can build a permanent place to stay when his rent is over. We will not always stay on this earth forever.

Since we will all die, we must think of where we will spend eternity. And that is why the doctrine of resurrection is important for those who place their faith in Jesus Christ. How you live your life on this physical apartment (earth), will determine your eternal apartment (whether lake of fire or New Jerusalem). If we develop the attitude of always working towards eternal life, we will not be entangled with the Satanic systems of the earth called the world. It will help us put things right and align ourselves with Jesus Christ. Rapture is for those who are alive and the resurrection of the dead alike. The question is, where will the destination of our resurrection from the dead be?

•| Prayer Diary |•
¹Lift up prayers for strength to mute the voice of the flesh and the world so you can listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit. ²Lift up prayers for the strength of God to live a righteous and holy life so you will come forth onto the resurrection of life. ³Lift up prayers for the constant remembrance of this world as a transient. ⁴Lift up prayers for humility to serve God’s purpose always. ⁵Lift up prayers for wisdom to lay down treasures in New Jerusalem. ⁶Lift up prayers to make things right with the view of aligning yourself with the Word of God. ⁷Lift up prayers and bind every evil spirit that entangles you to do evil with the intention of leading you into eternal damnation unaware. ⁸Declare that: ‘I am fully aware of my destination in the afterlife. I will be part of those who will come forth in the resurrection of life as I work out my salvation with fear and trembling in the name of Jesus Christ.’
