DOUBLEMINDEDNESS

²And when John had heard in prison about the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples ³and said to Him, “Are You the Coming One, or do we look for another?”
-Matthew 11:2-3 | NKJV

The mind is one of the greatest gifts God has given to us. The body parts God has given to us, are all there for accountability before the judgment seat of Jesus Christ. Since the mind is also part of the body, it has a direct link to our salvation because we are stewards of our bodies. Also, the mind helps us concerning the decisions we take or don’t take. Indecision is an indirect decision! God is a God of decision-making. His thought about creating the universe, has brought us into existence and everything around us. God expects us to make good decisions too. Decisions, that will benefit others more than us. It is very important to consider the interest of others above ours.

The choice of decision-making that affects others positively, will make us more successful. This is because, the more you provide solutions to situations of people, the more money it will generate and the richer you will become. John the Baptist started his ministry before Jesus Christ. His mission was to pave the way for the work of the Son of God. He knew what his mission was, and he fully knew the situations involved. But at one particular point in time, John the Baptist was sandwiched between faith and doubt of the Messiahship of Jesus Christ. But what led to this sudden change of belief in John? Was John unaware that Jesus Christ was the Son of God?

John the Baptist knew who Jesus was (Luke 3:16-17), but because of the situation he found himself in, he was double minded. Double-mindedness is one of the things that displease God. This is because every double-minded person lack faith (which is the only virtue that pleases God). The issue was that, after John the Baptist was sent into prison by King Herod, Jesus Christ did not come to visit him in prison. Jesus Christ heard of the sad event that had befallen John the Baptist (His father in ministry), yet, He didn’t pay him a visit (Matthew 4:12). This offended John the Baptist, and he had second thoughts about Jesus Christ.

There will always be situations that will test our faith in God and our loyalty to people. Do not be doubleminded about God and man. John the Baptist knew that, as a Son of God, Jesus Christ should have known better, that visitation was very important in ministry. In that case, John the Baptist had to send two of his disciples to inquire from Jesus Christ whether he was the true Messiah or not (Luke 7:19). You promised to marry someone but you are having double-mindedness about the person even though she is the right one. You promised to be in ministry, but because of issues, you are quitting. Anyone who is doubleminded, can’t make it in life, Godliness, and ministry.

•| Prayer Diary |•
¹Lift up prayers to make decisions that will benefit more people than yourself. ²Lift up prayers to consider the interest of others more than yourself. ³Lift up prayers for success as you develop the attitude of serving others. ⁴Lift up prayers to do the works of ministry as you pave the way for the second coming of Jesus Christ. ⁵Lift up prayers to take the right direction as you get closer to the junction of faith and doubt. ⁶Lift up prayers to overcome every double-mindedness in life, ministry, and Godliness in the name of Jesus Christ.
