READ: Zechariah 7:9
¹⁷For the Lord your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome, who shows NO PARTIALITY nor takes a bribe. ¹⁸He administers justice for the fatherless and the widow, and loves the stranger, giving him food and clothing.
-Deuteronomy 10:17-18 | NKJV
Fairness means: having the attitude of freeness from favouritism or self-interest or bias or deception and conformation with established standards or rules. Fairness is one thing that is getting odd in the system of life, Godliness, and ministry. Many people base on certain family history, religion, marital status, profession, monetary status, and other reasons, to take certain biased decisions. It can also be the school the person went to, the family background he is associated with, the sect he finds himself in, the people he is closer to, and what have you. The world is so corrupt that, people only receive fair treatments after they have given bribes.
We only think the Judiciary as an arm of government, is the only body responsible for interpreting the law and only obliged to show fairness in their judgement, but as citizens of the land, we also have a role to play in justice. Judgement is just the execution of decisions that end in a result. We all have decisions to take which have to influence the course of other peoples’ lives. It is not only about ‘self’ but ‘others.’ Therefore, our opinions must be based on truth and nothing but the truth. The decisions we make do not only affect us but others too. It affects our families, friends, loved ones and enemies alike. Therefore, we need to be fair in our dealings.
One day, having my national service as a laboratory technologist in the Eastern region of Ghana, one lady came to meet me privately. She explained to me that, she wanted her boyfriend to know that she was pregnant but in reality, she was not. So, I should write a false report indicating a positive test for her pregnancy. She then attempted to bribe me so I could attend to her favour. As if I knew Zechariah 7:9, I had no other option than to turn down this biased or unfair proposal. I don’t blame those who are corrupt or those who bribe. Many don’t know the consequences such actions would bring in their lives, Godliness, and ministry later on in time. Fairness is the Godly way of life.
God is just, and He expects us to be unbiased towards all. Fairness goes with the truth. Be truthful even onto death and it will save you from eternal damnation. Even though God is fair, He had to send His Son Jesus Christ into the world so He could become human. He knows one day someone would question Him during judgment that He never knew what it means to have a body so sinning is not easy to overcome. So if the person couldn’t live in holiness, it was not his or her fault. Because Jesus Christ is God who became flesh to live for 33 years without sin, He is mandated by God the Father (John 5:22) to judge us, so no flesh can stand before Him and be excused.
•| Prayer Diary |•
¹Lift up prayers to allow God to have all the space He needs to operate in your life and for Him to be the Lord over all your endeavours. ²Lift up prayers to experience the full-blown greatness of God in your life, ministry and the willpower to do what it takes to have such an encounter with Him. ³Lift up prayers to develop the attitude of being unbiased towards people and the strictness to defend this attitude as well. ⁴Lift up prayers to act justly towards the needy and to refrain from every act of hypocrisy. ⁵Lift up prayers to show hospitality from a genuine heart and to bless others with the substance you have in the name of Jesus Christ.
