INTER RELATIONSHIPS

THE DAVIDIC DEVOTIONAL

READ: Romans 12:13-21

Now the land was not able to support them, that they might dwell together, for their possessions were so great that they could not dwell together.
-Genesis 13:6 | NKJV

The Word of God contains true-life stories that give us the much-needed guidance about how the lives we are living now are not different from those in the past. The things that happened some years ago without our reach, are still happening in our time now because, there is nothing new under the sun. There are some people who think the Bible is a history book and its words are archaic. Also, some people think the Word of God does not refer to them but others. Thinking like this is a worldly kind of wisdom. The Word of God is not for specific people, but everyone. From moral, ministerial, financial, social, health, corporate, to marital life, the Bible is the best manual for all.

Today’s message encompasses how we can have better, free-flowing, and strife-free interrelationships with everyone no matter how ‘difficult’ we think certain people whom we relate with, are. When Abraham was called by God, he took Lot with him into a land they did not know about. In our time now, it is like calling forth a relative to come and stay with you. I remember I used to stay with my Uncles and Aunties. It was the same thing with Abraham and Lot. They lived happily after, but it got to a time that, after Lot became blessed, arrogance began to settle in his heart. The needed reverence, respect, honour, humility he ought to have given, reduced.

The real character of sons pops up when they are blessed more than their fathers. Lot thought that, now he is blessed, it is the perfect time to separate himself from Abraham, his uncle. After all, I have gotten everything I need: Money, houses, companies, cars, properties, and every satisfaction. What else do I need from this good for nothing person? These are the words many people think about, when they are about to leave relationships. When some people are successful they think they don’t need the people who made them so. This mindset also affected Lot’s workers. They began to have rifts with Abraham’s herdsmen and that led to Lot’s separation from Abraham.

Interrelationships are the channels God blesses us with. Even though everybody needs somebody, it is not everybody who is needful. The needful ones are the ones who can impact life positively. Through relationship, we depend on God for survival. Don’t be a high-minded person. No matter how beautiful you are, you still need a man to come closer and propose. No matter how blessed you are, you still need people to work with and even celebrate your success. Certificates help, but it will still be people who will employ you or whom you will employ. Start treating people with the much-needed cordiality and you will go far, because, your blessing is in your relationships.
