“This is the end of the account. As for me, Daniel, my thoughts greatly troubled me, and my countenance changed; but I KEPT THE MATTER IN MY HEART.”
-Daniel 7:28 | NKJV
The tongue is a very good vessel for evangelism and soul-winning and this same tongue is what we are entreated to tame, otherwise our lives will be ruined by it. A lot of lives have been ruined by the words that have uttered that they ought to have kept confidentially. There is time for everything under the sun. Time to speak and time to keep mute. Unfortunately, many people are unable to discern the times. Your ability to determine what to do and when to do something portrays your worth and success. When the right things are done at the wrong time, it yields no dividend irrespective of the right intention behind it. Everyone has a secret of ministry God wants such a person to keep.
As a Pastor, you can’t share just anything about the work of God to your spouse. Not all spouses have faith. There are dreams, visions, and revelations God reveals that He wants you alone to keep it until further notice. This is what happened to the Apostle Paul. Also, do well and keep your future events as secrets without the reach of others if the need be, until they are accomplished. Daniel as a minister of God knew when to speak and when to keep mute. There were so many things he was aware that the Lord told him about which he could have disclosed to the public, yet he kept them. There were so many secrets about Daniel’s ministry which he needed to keep from others.
Your fall begins as a Minister when you disclose the secrets between you and God to a third party without the instruction of God. As Daniel kept the concealing matters from others, it made him successful in life as a Prime Minister and in ministry as a Prophet. Unfortunately, there was a minister of God from Judah who the Lord sent to Bethel. This Minister couldn’t keep the secret that existed between him and God. God told him not to return to Bethel the way he came, and that he should not eat or drink from that place. This man of God couldn’t keep this secret, and another “senior” prophet, met him, and deceived him with sound words (1 Kings 13:11-19).
Because he couldn’t keep his secret, he suffered the consequence of death (1 Kings 13:24). Look at Adam. Because he couldn’t keep the secret of the forbidden tree from Eve, he suffered the consequence of sin and curse. Samson too couldn’t keep the secret of his strength from Delilah and he too suffered the penalty of untimely death and termination of ministry. It is not all people who are closer to you that want you to be successful in life, ministry, and Godliness. The fact that they laugh with you, doesn’t mean you need to tell them your secrets especially the ones that concern your ministry that God has told you not to disclose to anyone. Your secret is your power.

¹Lift up prayers for the realisation of the times you are in so you can act accordingly in terms of things that pertain to your life. ²Lift up prayers for the realisation of the times you are in so you can act accordingly in terms of things that pertain to your Godliness. ³Lift up prayers to keep the secrets you have promised people to keep. ⁴Lift up prayers for the earnest self-control to keep the secrets of your ministry safe that exist between you and God. ⁵Lift up prayers against any evil spirit that influences your soul to reveal any secret you have to keep from the reach of others. ⁶Bind any evil spirit that monitors your life without your knowledge in the name of Jesus Christ.
