READ: Luke 14:25-33
²⁴Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. ²⁵For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.
-Matthew 16:24-25 | NKJV
Christianity is not a social club you can join and do whatever you like. Even in social clubs, there are rules and regulations that guard the members. The day you flout the rules or regulations, is the day you will be penalised or shown the exit door. In that case, many people carry themselves well in secular meetings, but the unfortunate part is that these same people go to church and expect democracy from God. They expect independence from Jesus Christ to do the things they want. Someone said to me that, ‘David, stop living your life based on the Word of God. Sometimes, you have to do what everybody is doing.’ For this person, being lukewarm was not a problem.
There are people who also say that, when the world changes, you must adapt accordingly. So, in that case, as believers, they don’t mind living their lives like worldly people. So, let us say the world is moving towards indecent dressing all in the name of fashion, they also expect believers to follow suit. Sex before marriage for singles is not seen as an odd thing in society, because many people see it as an eye-opener. As a believer, you can’t do what worldly people are doing. You can’t be a Christian and go on a rat race with the world. Many believers say that God has given them free will to live anyhow. Even Jesus Christ didn’t follow His own will but the will of the Father (Matthew 26:39).
If you are a boss, do you want your workers to come to work anytime they want? Do you want them to steal the company’s money and go-scot free with it? If no! Then you don’t want them to run the company with their free will. But you want to run Christianity with your self will. Free will is for unbelievers to accept salvation or to reject it. If worldly people do what they want, the will of God is in the contract of salvation for believers (Matthew 6:10). Before Jesus Christ could flow in the will of God, He was first gentle and lowly in heart (Matthew 11:29). Without humility you can’t flow in the will of God. There is a cost of discipleship you must pay as a child of God. Free will must be sold!
Those who feel they are restrained or entangled from doing what they want, are those who say Christianity is difficult. The cost of discipleship, is found in Matthew 16:24. To flow in the will of God, you need to have self-denial or you have to sacrifice your self-will. This is the secret of discipleship. Christianity is discipleship. We have one leader called Jesus Christ. Following Jesus Christ comes with a price. It is the price of the will of God. You need to sacrifice your free will for the will of God to be done in every area of your life always. You will then be led by the Holy Spirit towards the will of God (Romans 8:14). That is when serving God will be easier for you to do.

Lift up prayers for the strength to bear every cost of discipleship in the name of Jesus Christ.
Quote
“Salvation is free through the cross of Christ but eternal life through the Holy Spirit is not. To get eternal life, you have to pay the price”
