REWARDS OF FASTING

So that you do not appear to men to be fasting, but to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.

There was a certain occult who wanted to have power that could overcome everyone. He was then given directives concerning how he could obtain such power by the Grandmaster. He was told to do a dry fasting for three months; and for every month, he was told to drink one spoon of water. After carefully obeying such directives, he was given such power in the kingdom of darkness. If occults can obey directives from their Grandmasters even if it will cost them food to obtain power, then, the children of darkness are becoming wiser than most believers who don’t fast. Fasting is not a punishment, but sacrifice that releases power. First reward is that, fasting releases power of protection.
The second reward God gives to those who fast and pray most often, is power to cast out devils. One of the signs following those who believe in Jesus Christ, are born again, and are doing His will is casting out devils (Mark 16:17). But certain devils cannot be casted by just being born again but by fasting and prayers. However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting” -Matthew 17:21 NKJV. Jesus Christ was God but when He became flesh, He had to fast to obtain power to cast out devils. To cast out certain devils, is not done by filling your belly with food. The disciples couldn’t cast out certain devils and heal, because they were always eating.
The third reward God gives to those who fast and pray most often is power to overcome sin. To commit sin, you are influenced by an evil spirit and to stop sinning, you first have to obtain power to overcome that spirit that influences you to sin. Repentance without power to overcome sin, is like gearing a train on the sea. Many believers are struggling to overcome sin because they think they can overcome it on their own. Righteousness is Jesus Christ and He is the power that strengthens us to overcome sin. Fasting coupled with the Word of God and prayer, deliver us from sins that easily beset us and sins that we are addicted to. What is the use of us if we cannot stop sinning?
The fourth reward God gives us when we fast and pray is the power to overcome diseases. As long as we eat and drink, we will be sick. It is because of our healing that Jesus Christ received stripes. Without sickness, there is no need of healing. There are many people who cannot fast because of health issues but when they take the leap of faith and do so, God gives them the power to overcome such diseases and before they realise, they are done with the fasting. If God wills, He can even heal you from the disease permanently. The fifth reward you get from God when you fast is that, He draws Himself to you as you draw yourself to Him.

Lift up prayers for obedience to the voice of God anytime there is an opportunity given to you to fast and pray so you can reap the rewards meted out for you in the name of Jesus Christ.
