THE NARROW GATE

“Enter by the NARROW GATE; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it.

When houses are built, there is a passage area created for departure and arrival. The house is yours alright, but for you to have access into the rooms, you can’t enter into it without the gates. Gates also have locks and keys. If your key is lost, the gate will be there alright but you can’t assess your own house. When high developed communities are built, gates are usually built as formidable fortresses to secure the defence of the society. Gates prevent intruders or unauthorized people. Gates filter people who need to assess a certain space. Gates give assess to treasures. Gates ensure safe passage ins and outs. Gates provide security. Gates also employs people.
In life, there are many gates. In schools, you can’t be a student without going through the gate of the administration. At workplaces, you can’t be a worker without going through the gate of the human resource manager or who has been authorized to employ. At the national level, you can’t become a citizen of a nation without going through the necessary gates of citizenship. In relationships, you can’t become a husband or wife, without passing through the gate of marriage especially with the payment of a brideprice. There is a saying that the way to a man’s heart is through his mouth. That is a gate! You can’t assess his treasures without passing through such a gate.
No wonder Adam sold his authority and dominion to the devil through the gate of his mouth, and Esau sold his birthright to Jacob through the gate of his mouth. In Godliness, the devil has cunning ways of entering into our lives through the gates of our senses. And this has led Satan to create the broad way of 666 gates through our senses so we can sin easily. What makes a man fall easily especially concerning sexual immorality is through the gate of his EYES (Matthew 5:28). And what makes a woman fall easily is through the gate of her EARS (Genesis 3:1-5). There are many gates the devil has created to get us into destruction but there is only one narrow gate that leads to eternal life.
As there are many gates that leads to sin, there is only one gate that leads the way to holiness and eternal life and that is only through Jesus Christ (John 14:6). He is the only gateway because He is the One who paid the price of sin with His own blood so we can attain the righteousness of God. Paul stressed on the WORKS of the flesh in Galatians 5:19-21 because there are many gates that leads to sin. But in Galatians 5:22-23, He stressed on FRUIT of the Spirit and not FRUITS because there is only one gate that leads to holiness and that is the narrow gate of Jesus Christ. You can’t be holy and you can’t have eternal life if you don’t have Jesus Christ in your life.

Lift up prayers for the grace to leave every broad gate that leads to destruction so you will be focused to enter the narrow gate into eternal life in the name of Jesus Christ.
