CARNAL TREASURES

READ: 1 Timothy 6:17-19
“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal;
-Matthew 6:19 | NKJV
A treasure is:
- Wealth (such as jewels, or precious metals) stored up or hoarded.
- Wealth of any kind or in any form: RICHES
b: a store of money in reserve.
c: something of great worth or value. - A person esteemed as rare or precious.
4: A collection of precious things.
Jesus Christ telling us in Matthew 6:19 not to lay up treasures on earth, where moth and rust cannot destroy and where thieves cannot break in and steal has become a quotation that many believers have stood on to be lazy. Matthew 6:19 goes hand in hand with Proverbs 6:6 where we were told to learn from the ant and consider its ways.
The ant knowing of climate changes, redeem its time by hoarding TREASURES of food. It is because of unprecedented events in the future that we have to lay up treasures. God being so good, He has given you a brain to think and use it to gather treasures for yourself, family and those who will need your help. Don’t only think about yourself. Think about others. Treasure gathering is not for yourself alone but others. God didn’t create us the same. He has given us measures of strength concerning how we can gather treasures. Some can gather treasures of food but not enough money. Some can gather treasures of money but not good health.
Some can gather treasures of wisdom but not money. Some can gather money but not the wisdom of God. Some can gather treasures of knowledge and not enough toys. It is not a sin to work hard and lay up treasures. In fact, if you cannot work hard as a secular worker, how can you work harder for God? Many people think the work of God is not a hard work so when someone becomes a Pastor, they think such people are lazy. Let me tell you, there is no work much harder, very dangerous, and alarming if it is not done right more than the work of God. It is not only you who will face the consequences for not doing the work of God lackadaisically but your entire generation.
Gehazi didn’t do the work of God rightfully by laying up certain treasures that God didn’t lead him to do. When Gehazi was cursed, his entire generations also became lepers. The fact that we have to lay up carnal treasures doesn’t mean that we have to pass dubious means of making money or laying up treasures. If you do an evil job, it will land you in hell. It is not every job that you have to engage yourself in as a believer. You shouldn’t let carnal treasures lead you into places and things that go against God. There is a time coming and it is now here that, believers cannot buy or sell and things will be harder for believers if they don’t compromise for the new world order.

Lift up prayers onto God to gift you the wisdom and utterance to lay up treasures for yourself and others according to His will and purpose in the name of Jesus Christ.
