SPIRITUAL TREASURES

But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.

As there are carnal treasures so are there spiritual treasures. The carnal treasures are there for the body and the soul doesn’t benefit from them as such. The spiritual treasures are there for the soul and the body cannot benefit from them. If we are busily working to lay up carnal treasures so we will not lack or beg in the future, then we must also lay up treasures spiritually so when our souls leave the body in the future, he will not be in need. The first spiritual treasure the soul needs is salvation. The soul needs a temporal place to stay when he leaves the body. Salvation is when Jesus Christ saves the soul from heading towards lake of fire as his permanent home.
We often lay carnal treasures on earth for the body to live in but we often neglect the soul thinking there is much time before him. There is no much time. Death comes unannounced. Don’t procrastinate your salvation. Accept Jesus Christ into your life as your Lord and God, and let Him control your soul for you. If you don’t allow Him to control you, how can you allow Him to control you in New Jerusalem? This is the good news that your soul can be saved today. Leave the world and come to Jesus Christ. It is because of you and I that He came to die and He is ready to save your soul if you believe in Him and allow Him to lead you beside the still waters of holiness.
Another spiritual treasure the soul needs is the Holy Spirit. The most blessed person is not someone who has billions of Pounds, or someone who owns real estates etc but someone who has the Holy Spirit living in him or her. Without the Holy Spirit, you can’t have eternal life, because without Him, you can’t be sealed as those who are eligible to have eternal life. Without the Holy Spirit as the treasure the soul is looking for, the soul is doomed for all eternity. The soul cannot live without the Holy Spirit. The soul needs the fellowship of the Holy Spirit to overcome evil spirits. The soul needs the Holy Spirit to overcome sin. Sin is not committed only by the body, but the soul.
Another spiritual treasure of the soul is New Jerusalem. That is where the soul is going to live for the rest of his life if he is saved. If he is not saved, his portion is the lake of fire. Another spiritual treasure of the soul is the crown of life. Everyone who is saved will wear a crown of life but the difference will be the position of seating and that brings us to another spiritual treasure which is the reward for the work of God. The souls person A won will differentiate him from person B. The reward for the work of God will not be the same in New Jerusalem. Lastly, tithes, offerings, sacrifices made for the house of God and things that concern God, are accumulated as treasures for the soul.
