CHRISTIAN HEAD COVERING
David Abankwah
SERIES: Day 14

But if a woman has long hair, it is a glory to her; for her hair is given to her for a covering.
-I Corinthians 11:15 | NKJV

Today marks the end of our series on the Christian head covering. I hope you have been blessed. There are so many churches who have gotten 1 Corinthians 11:15 twisted and they allow the women to uncover their heads in the church. Moreover, they have become contentious (causing disagreement or argument towards) the custom of our Christian faith. If head covering is not that important, the Holy Spirit would have not taught us through Apostle Paul. If we go to church purposely for eternal life and not any other reason, then we must obey the whole truth of the Bible and not some. If your Shepherd or the church has taught you otherwise, don’t you also have the Bible?

Today, instead of us becoming the Bereans who crosschecked what they were preached to or taught about, we see our Shepherds as the final decree, so everything they tell us, we just obey, even if it goes against the Bible. Paul stressed on 1 Corinthians 11:14 that when men have long hair, it is a dishonour to them because nature even teaches that. After Paul said that, he went to verse 15 and said, but when women have long hair, it is a covering for them. What covering was that? If the long hair is a dishonour for men then the long hair of women is a covering of honour for them. The long hair on the heads of women is a covering of glory for them (1 Corinthians 11:15)

It doesn’t mean that when you have long hair as a woman, you should not cover it in the presence of God because Paul has already taught that in 1 Corinthians 11:5, 10. Whether you have a long hair or short hair as a woman, you must cover it in the presence of God (when praying, ministering or when you are in the church). Today many women stand on the altar of God without covering their heads and they lead worship and praises, preach or teach without the prompting of the Holy Spirit that, that is wrong. This means that the Holy Spirit has left the church. When the Holy Spirit leaves the church, it becomes a congregation of the dead (Proverbs 21:16) for one to fellowship in.

If a blind leader leads the congregation, the church will fall into a ditch. There are so many churches who started well. The women were covering their heads and the men were not but as time went on, they have stopped. And now most people are doing what they want in the church. If you want eternal life, don’t fall short of the Word of God, for one disobedience is what led Adam out of the Garden of Eden. You may have stopped fornication, but if you disobey the custom of head covering in the presence of God, you are still a sinner and one sin is enough to condemn you. If you don’t want trouble, cover your head as a woman and uncover your head as a man in the presence of God.

•| Prayer Diary |•
Lift up prayers to be delivered from the spirit of contentiousness that makes you rebel against the Word of God without its obedience in the name of Jesus Christ.

Quote
Whether a woman has a short or long hair naturally, she must cover it in the presence of God.
